REVIEW: Wonder Woman, Vol. 2: Guts by Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang, Tony Akins, Dan Green

Wonder Woman goes to hell! After playing Poseidon, Hades, and Hera against each other, Hades strikes back by kidnapping Zola and trapping her in the Underworld. It’s up to Wonder Woman — with a little help from the God of Love and the God of Smiths — to break Zola out. But what is Hades’ real game, and once you get into the land of the dead, how exactly do you get out?

Wow. I was really impressed with this one. I don’t know if you guys remember my review for volume one but I felt disappointed that Wonder Woman wasn’t as badass as she could be. There was a big turn around on this one, I felt like she wasn’t just the good little girl her mama wanted her to be. Yes, she was still good but she took things into her own hands and did what she felt she needed to do, not what was expected of her.

The art was still great and the mythology was rich and made the story full. It was pretty dark as far as Wonder Woman goes. Now I’m excited for volume three. Now I expect more. Don’t let me down Brian Azzarello and company.
