Authors Who Rock My Socks Off: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Today I’m super happy to present an interview with one of my favorite authors: Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Author’s Bio (taken from website)

# 1 New York Times and International Bestselling author Jennifer lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. All the rumors you’ve heard about her state aren’t true. When she’s not hard at work writing. she spends her time reading, watching really bad zombie movies, pretending to write, and hanging out with her husband and her Jack Russell Loki.
Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories….which explains her dismal grades in math. Jennifer writes young adult paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary romance. She is published with Spencer Hill Press, Entangled Teen and Brazen, Disney/Hyperion and Harlequin Teen. Her book Obsidian has been optioned for a major motion picture and her Covenant Series has been optioned for TV. Her young adult romantic suspense novel DON’T LOOK BACK was a 2014 nominated Best in Young Adult Fiction by YALSA.
She also writes Adult and New Adult contemporary and paranormal romance under the name J. Lynn. She is published by Entangled Brazen and HarperCollins.

1. What is your favorite series that you write? Why?

I don’t have a favorite series that I’ve written because I enjoyed writing all of my books for different reasons. My favorite book is usually the one that I’m writing when I’m asked the question, so Scorched is my favorite right now.

2. If you could duel one of your characters who would it be?

Can I chose a turtle? I doubt I would beat any of my actual human characters in a duel, but I think I’d have a shot at beating Michelangelo or Raphael from Wait for You.

3. If you could sum up your whole life into a single flavor, what would it be? What do you think
your life would taste like?

I think it would taste like a 5-hour Energy drink, or maybe coffee, but that’s mainly because I’m always drinking one of them.

4. How long does it take you to decide on your characters names? Have you ever had to change any of them half way through the writing process?

I’m terrible at choosing names for my characters, so I usually chose the first name that I can come up with that seems to fit the character to me. I’ve had to change the name of a character before for various reasons, but I’ve always ended up liking the new name better anyway.

5. You write a lot of romance, if you could pick one of your heros to date, would you? And if so, who would it be?

I think I’d find it hard to turn down most of my male characters, but if I have to chose one right now, I’d probably want to go on a date with Jax from Stay With Me.

REVIEW: Opal (Lux #2) Jennifer L. Armentrout

After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different… And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.

Together we’re stronger… and they know it.

What can I say? I mean, everyone already knows this is awesome. I was the one late to reading this. But let me say: THIS WAS AWESOME!

With the second book I was afraid I was going to get the typical second book I thought that as close as Katy and Daemon got, they were going to be ripped apart or Daemon would break up with Katy and there would be a lot of angst. Well that didn’t happen. It just got better. Their relationship got better and I couldn’t believe it.

With the third installment, I thought there was a chance for angst but mostly I was just content for the Daemon ride. And oh what a ride. He is one smooth talker that makes us all swoon. There was action, suspense and romance. It really couldn’t get any better.

SPOILER ALERT

I’m excited for the next one but with how Daemon and Katy were separated at the end I’m sure that this is going to be a “book two” with tons of angst. It makes me a little hesitant but I think Armentrout is going to wow me no matter what.

REVIEW: Obsidian (Lux #1)by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Dayum this was a great book! I really liked the love story in this one because it’s not really love. It’s love and hate and that makes it hot! I sort of had the feeling that with all the hot and cold that it was going to be really similar to twilight but I love how Katy is so feisty and absolutely doesn’t take Daemon’s crap.

I can’t wait until I get my hands on the next book!
